Overview

Have you thought about what you would do in the event of a natural disaster, fire, flood, theft, sabatoge, or catastrophic system failure?   Statistics indicate that most small businesses fail within 12 months of a major loss if they didn't plan for it in advance.  At Pro Computer Solutions we are passionate about working with you to build the right plan so your business can survive and recover from a catastrophic event.

Backup and Archiving

Our experience is that most businesses do not have a workable plan in place to backup and recover the data from their workstations and servers.  Answer these three questions:

1.  Do you backup all of your files every day?

Many small businesses we visit never backup their computer network.  You need to backup your files, email, databases, financial data, customer database, etc. every day to make sure if a file gets lost, destroyed, or modified incorrectly that you can get the orignal back.

2.  Do you regularly test to make sure that you can restore your backups?

We've consulted with companies that had excellent backup procedures in place and religously changed tapes every day only to find out that their backups weren't recoverable when they ended up needing a file.  It's important to regularly test your restore procedure before it's an emergency.

3.  Do you keep a copy of your backups offsite?

If you don't have an offsite copy of your files and software it doesn't make any difference that you backed up and did test restores if your building burns down and your backups were in the building.

We can create a backup plan that's tailored to your unique business needs.  During our interview process we find out and assess what needs to be backed up, how often it needs to be backed up, what the best solution would be for your situation (tape, disk, Internet), and then give you a plan that meets those requirements.

Our PCSiWebBackup service is very popular because after setup it automatically backs up your data as often as you need to a secure server in our datacenter.  In the event of loss your data can be recovered to any computer with an Internet connection.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

Your business could experience a serious incident at any time that prevents you from continuing your normal operations.  We can help you create a plan to resume operations as soon as possible after a flood, explosion, fire, server crash, break-in, malicious attack, and more.

Our consultant will work with you to learn about and rank the different Functional Areas of your business, do a complete Risk Assessement, and create a comprehensive plan to keep your critical processes running or get them running again as soon as possible.

Your customized plan will take into consideration processes like:

  • E-Mail Communication?
  • Where people are going to work?
  • What computers are they going to use?
  • How long before you can access your accounting database?
  • How are you going to handle phones so you don't miss a single customer call?
  • How can you get a hold of the key vendors and employees in the middle of the night?
  • How often are you going to review, audit, and update this plan?

While unlikely, a serious disaster can occur at any time and the results could be disaste.  This is not a task that should be left on your list until somebody has time to get around to it.  Give us a call today to see how we can assist your planning process.
